The Grove
Trees! What a wonder it is to be beneath them, climb them (respectfully), whisper happy and sad secrets into their hollows and walk away from them knowing they're there. So, when I first started doing watercolors it only made sense that I had the thought "I want to paint a tree." What doesn't make as much sense (but does) is that since then this thought has remained pretty much my only thought. Each of the paintings in this series, "The Grove," are a depiction of me returning to that thought, "I want to paint a tree." The result: a bunch of tree-looking trees.
But, the point isn't actually to make a tree, and you'll notice some paintings have no trees at all! The point is that places can be feelings, and feelings can be places, and that "The Grove" is my anthology of iterative attempts at visualizing that. IDK if that makes sense. Maybe I should've just left at "Trees!"
