The above poem is a segment that was cut from a longer poem titled "Immobilization Techniques." The whole thing was a found-poem in dialogue with source texts that oscillated between electrofishing ethics, corporate opioid manufacturing settlements, crosswalk legalese, and idk donut holes or something. TBH, I do not like how that project turned out, not at all. I wish I hadn't spent so much time on it. It's tonally all over the place and takes itself too seriously while at the same not taking itself seriously enough. The best thing about it was this poem here β, which I didn't even end up including. I like it because its eerie and romantic as if the sprawling structure of a Jane Austen sentence has been filtered through the jargon of an electrofishing backpack assembly manual.
